Just a guy trying to shoot some fish.
Molly Borsom has a Bachelor’s degree of Fine Arts in Marine Science from the University of Hawaii. Her passion for photography began at a young age, with photographs printed in numerous publications over the past decade. Her experience as a Divemaster, Sailor, and Marine Science educator make her a great addition to the team at Top Shot Spearfishing.
Chris Oka, leads the Spearfish Maui Team on Maui. He has been fishing and spearfishing ever since he could hold a fishing pole. Don’t let his age and size fool you. A person of small stature, but the heart and strength of a lion. Watch him as he demonstrates the techniques of spearfishing in the seas and he will disappear before your eyes, blending in with his surroundings. He is currently studying Sustainable Construction Technology at the University of Hawaii – Maui Campus as well.
John Oka is our volunteer advisor to Spearfish Maui. At 57 years of age, he is our “Old Man of the Sea.” His experience with spearfishing spans 4 decades. He has developed a shallow water reef diving approach that has landed him many trophy sized fish time and time again in waters less than 15 feet deep. When he is not spearfishing, he is usually seen working in his machine shop where he specializes in metal fabrication, making custom spearshafts, and hand forging knives. He has two sons, one of which is Christopher, who leads the Spearfish Maui Team.
